Summary
Samsung’s Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ combine large 120Hz AMOLED screens, an included S Pen and Android-based productivity features. Apple’s 13-inch iPad Pro shares the thin, high-end tablet focus, but the supplied specifications do not support a direct performance or value verdict.
A pair of large-screen productivity tablets
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 range is split between the 14.6-inch S12 Ultra and the 12.6-inch S12+. Both have 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, microSD expansion up to 2TB, and an S Pen in the box. Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits and HBM brightness of 1,000 nits for both. It also says Vision Booster adjusts brightness in real time.
The shared foundation makes the choice chiefly about size, weight, connectivity and price. The Ultra is listed at 692g for Wi-Fi or 695g for 5G; the S12+ is 553g or 555g, respectively. Both support 5G variants and Bluetooth 6.0, while the Ultra lists Wi-Fi 7 and the S12+ Wi-Fi 6E. Samsung says either screen can be split into three sections in Multi Window, a feature aimed at combining tasks such as notes, video and an AI assistant.
Where the iPad Pro comparison helps—and where it stops
Apple’s supplied product information describes a 13-inch iPad Pro with a 5.1mm-thick design, an Ultra Retina XDR tandem-OLED display, and ProMotion adaptive refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz. Samsung’s Ultra is also 5.1mm thick; its S12+ is 5.3mm. Apple specifies 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness and 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness. Those figures are not necessarily measured in the same modes as Samsung’s peak and HBM figures, so they do not establish which screen is brighter in equivalent use.
The product positioning overlaps: each company presents a thin, large-screen tablet for work and creative tasks, with a keyboard and stylus ecosystem. Samsung includes the S Pen and lists its Pro Keyboard Cover separately at ₹27,999 for Ultra and ₹26,499 for S12+. Apple’s page describes support for Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro, but the supplied material does not give their prices or say whether either is included. That makes a full accessory-cost comparison impossible.
There is also no sound basis here for ranking the Dimensity 9500 against Apple’s M5. Samsung reports generational gains for its processor, while Apple makes performance claims against earlier iPad Pro models; neither is a comparable test between these tablets. Samsung specifies Android 17 with One UI 9 and up to seven OS upgrades and security updates. Apple’s page describes iPadOS and Apple Intelligence features, but the supplied text does not state a comparable support period.
India pricing and ownership offers
Samsung lists the S12+ from ₹1,29,999 and the Ultra from ₹1,49,999. These are starting prices: the full table ranges from ₹1,29,999 to ₹1,64,999 for the S12+ and ₹1,49,999 to ₹1,84,999 for the Ultra, depending on connectivity and storage. Samsung says both models are to be available in India from October 7 through its listed retail and online channels.
The company also advertises bank cashback, upgrade bonuses, multi-buy discounts and no-cost EMI, subject to conditions. Its Galaxy Forever option is tied to Samsung Finance+ at specified channels and a ₹12,499 programme fee. Samsung describes assured buyback of 40% at months 11–13 or 25% at months 14–24, with eligibility and terms applying. Those offers may matter to buyers weighing upfront ownership, but they should not be treated as unconditional discounts.
Khabre’s assessment
The S12+ looks like the more manageable option on Samsung’s own size and weight figures; the Ultra offers the largest display and Wi-Fi 7. The iPad Pro is a relevant alternative for shoppers already considering a thin, large-screen tablet and Apple’s software and accessory ecosystem. The evidence supports comparing their stated features and positioning, not declaring a winner: Apple India pricing, direct performance results, equivalent battery measurements and a complete accessory-cost comparison are not provided here.
