Apple says Siri AI, a new beta version of its Apple Intelligence-powered assistant, is available on supported versions of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, visionOS 27 and watchOS 27. The update expands Siri beyond voice queries with personal-context understanding, onscreen awareness, systemwide app actions and a dedicated app for continuing conversations across Apple devices.
Siri AI is enabled from the Siri settings after the relevant operating-system update. Users must complete voice setup and review privacy settings before joining a waitlist; Apple says download times can vary.
What Siri AI adds
Apple describes Siri AI as a more conversational assistant that can answer general questions, use information from across a user’s Apple apps and take actions inside those apps. The company says the assistant can work with information in Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes and Reminders, allowing requests based on personal context rather than only isolated commands.
The assistant can also answer questions about what is currently displayed on screen. Its app actions are intended to carry out tasks such as sending messages and creating events across supported apps.
A dedicated Siri app uses iCloud to sync conversation history across devices, according to Apple. A conversation started on an iPhone can therefore be continued on a Mac, iPad, Apple Watch or Apple Vision Pro.
Other listed capabilities include Write with Siri, which can generate or revise text and provide feedback in places where users type. Visual Intelligence can identify or provide information about objects and scenes. On iPhone, it can be accessed through Siri mode in the Camera app or a screenshot gesture; Apple also lists keyboard shortcuts on Mac and visual queries through Apple Vision Pro.
Apple additionally lists customisable pace and expressiveness for Siri’s voice. That feature requires the AFM Core Advanced on-device model and supported hardware with specified memory configurations, including iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPad (M4) or later, Mac models with M3 or later, and Apple Vision Pro with M5.
Supported devices and regional access
Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-capable device and matching supported device and Siri languages. Apple lists the following requirements:
- iPhone: iOS 27 on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air.
- iPad: iPadOS 27 on iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad models with M1 or later.
- Mac: macOS 27 Golden Gate on MacBook Neo (A18 Pro) and Macs with M1 or later.
- Apple Watch: watchOS 27 on Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3, when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone nearby.
- Apple Vision Pro: visionOS 27 on any Apple Vision Pro.
Apple says Siri AI is currently available in English, with availability varying by region and platform. The company also says the feature remains usable while travelling after it has been enabled.
Access differs in some regions. For residents of the European Union, Siri AI is unavailable on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, while macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 support it when the Apple Account region is in the EU and both device and Siri languages are set to English. For residents of mainland China, Apple says Siri AI will not currently work when the Apple Account region is mainland China.
The beta label, language requirement, regional restrictions and device requirements make Siri AI a staged software rollout rather than a universal replacement for the existing Siri experience.
