Summary

BMW says the X3 M50 xDrive’s 3.0-litre petrol engine will rise to 326 kW (443 hp), with a 0–100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds. A separate, optional Black Package adds exclusive styling and interior details from December 2026.

BMW says the BMW X3 M50 xDrive will get a 33 kW (45 hp) increase in engine output, taking its 3.0-litre petrol engine to 326 kW (443 hp). The updated model is claimed to accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. From December 2026, buyers will also be able to specify a new Black Package, an optional styling package that is separate from the performance upgrade.

The announcement, dated 1 October 2026, also outlines interior updates for the wider X3 range due from December 2026.

More power across the M50 range

The X3 M50 xDrive uses a 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. BMW says the 33 kW increase applies to every X3 M50 xDrive, whether or not it has the Black Package.

BMW gives a second acceleration figure of 4.1 seconds using the “1-foot rollout” method. In that method, timing starts after the car has travelled the first foot (30.48 cm), so it is not directly equivalent to the 4.4-second figure measured from rest. The company says the engine meets the Euro 7 emissions standard.

BMW lists combined WLTP fuel consumption of 8.8–8.1 litres per 100 km and CO₂ emissions of 199–185 g/km for the X3 M50 xDrive. The release says these figures refer to vehicles on the German market.

Black Package focuses on styling

The Black Package is exclusive to the X3 M50 xDrive. Its exterior features include 22-inch Polygon 1134 M Black alloy wheels, high-gloss black brake callipers and black M logos and model badges with silver outlines.

Inside, BMW adds black Alcantara to parts of the instrument panel, the area in front of the central display, the smartphone charging tray, door trims and centre-console armrest. The Alcantara/Veganza seat covers have blue stitching and piping, while the package also includes black floor mats with M-colour detailing and selected CraftedClarity glass-finished controls.

The package changes the car’s appearance and materials; the engine increase is a separate update that comes on all X3 M50 xDrive models.

Updates for other X3 models

BMW says interior enhancements will extend across the X3 range from December 2026. These include a soft-touch surface in front of the central display, a revised instrument-panel stitching pattern and ambient lighting in the centre-console storage compartment and inside door handles. The glove-box opener is also redesigned. Stainless-steel boot-sill edge guards are specified for the X3 30e xDrive and X3 M50 xDrive.

The four-cylinder engine in the X3 20 xDrive will also meet Euro 7, according to BMW. The company lists that model’s combined WLTP consumption as 8.2–7.4 litres per 100 km and CO₂ emissions as 185–169 g/km, with figures referring to the German market.
