A transition pathway into robotics work
The DoW SkillBridge program allows eligible service members to spend their final 180 days of military service gaining civilian-industry experience through on-the-job training, apprenticeships or internships. Boston Dynamics says approximately 200,000 members of the U.S. Armed Forces leave active duty each year, making the transition from military work to civilian employment a significant workforce challenge.
The company’s participation is focused on connecting that transition with work in robotics. Field Applications roles generally sit close to the practical use of a technology, helping organisations apply systems in operational environments. Field Service roles typically support the installation, maintenance and continued operation of equipment. At a robotics company, both areas connect engineering and products with the facilities and teams that use them.
Boston Dynamics says it already has a supportive veteran community and views the SkillBridge partnership as an extension of its work to support service members. Its broader stated mission is to develop and deploy capable robots intended to improve safety and productivity across industries.
