Clicks has upgraded the final specifications of its Communicator device before shipments begin, increasing RAM from 8GB to 12GB and battery capacity from 4,000mAh to 4,350mAh. The company says reservation holders will receive the upgrades at no added cost.
Clicks says orders are scheduled to begin shipping in December. The USD $499 launch price can be locked in through September 30, after which the device will move to its stated MSRP of USD $649.
Higher memory and a different battery design
The additional RAM gives the Communicator more memory capacity than originally announced, although Clicks has not provided performance benchmarks in this update. The larger battery is rated to support 800 charge cycles.
Clicks also changed the planned battery chemistry. The device was initially intended to use a silicon-carbon battery, but the production version will use lithium-ion instead. The company says the change prioritises safety and reliability. The announcement does not provide further technical detail about the battery’s expected runtime or charging performance.
The final hardware also includes changes to the bottom row of keys and a refined colour palette. Clicks has not described the key changes in detail in this announcement.
Configuration, accessories and connectivity
Reservation holders are being invited to configure their orders through a new online tool. The tool allows customers to preview Communicator body colours, select a keyboard-language layout, choose Charging Cover colour combinations, add accessories and confirm or update shipping details.
Clicks says dbrand is its exclusive launch partner for Communicator accessories. Customers can add a dbrand MNML case and Prism screen protector during configuration, with the accessories shipped in the same box as the device.
The company is also offering Clicks Care, an optional service covering accidental incidents such as drops, spills and button damage. Clicks says covered customers receive a replacement Communicator rather than waiting for a repair; a USD $49 deductible applies. The service also extends the manufacturer warranty beyond Clicks’ standard one-year warranty.
For mobile connectivity, Clicks Mobile plans will be available to eligible customers in the United States and United Kingdom through an eSIM. Customers who subscribe after receiving their Communicator can receive two months of free service. The device supports both nano SIM and eSIM, is shipped unlocked and can be used with a customer’s existing wireless plan. Clicks says more information about its own mobile plans will follow closer to the targeted December shipping period.
