Summary

Google says it is scaling ads in AI Mode across 10 countries, including India. It also plans to introduce ads in follow-up queries in AI Mode in the United States.

Google is scaling ads in its AI Mode search experience across 10 countries, including India, the company announced on October 28, 2026. The expansion also covers Australia, Canada, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore.

Google says that in the fourth quarter of 2026 it plans to expand ads to additional locales, including Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Separately, it is launching ads in follow-up queries in AI Mode in the United States.

AI Mode supports queries that can be phrased as longer, more conversational requests. Google reports that queries in AI Mode are, on average, three times longer than traditional searches, based on its US AI Mode report from May 2026. The company says its research indicates people are comfortable with ads in the experience and consider them relevant.

Google also reports that click-through rates are already similar for sponsored and organic product-list items within AI Mode. That comparison comes from Google internal US data collected from August 20 to September 3, 2026. It describes product-list interactions in that market and period, rather than all ads or users across the newly announced countries.

Labels and follow-up queries

Ads in AI Mode will be marked “Sponsored,” Google says. In the United States, the company is introducing “multiturn ads” so ads can appear in follow-up queries—the later questions in an ongoing search interaction. Google says it will continue testing ad formats as it expands the experience.

The announcement extends advertising into more of Google’s conversational search experience, including India. The company has not described a separate ad format or market-specific rollout schedule for each of the 10 countries.
