Summary

Lenovo says ISG named it a Leader in the IT Solutions quadrant of its 2026 Digital Sustainability reports for Europe and the United States. The announcement cites services spanning circular IT, AI infrastructure and carbon data.

Lenovo says it was named a Leader in the IT Solutions quadrant of the 2026 ISG Provider Lens® Digital Sustainability reports for both Europe and the United States. Announced on 19 October, the recognition covers Lenovo’s approach across devices, infrastructure and services—not an individual product.

The announcement describes a portfolio intended to bring sustainability considerations into IT decisions from procurement and deployment through operation, recovery and reporting. ISG estimates the global digital sustainability market at $34.3 billion, up 12% from 2025, with Europe accounting for 43% and the US for 33%.

The services behind the recognition

Lenovo groups its offer around circular procurement, infrastructure efficiency and carbon information. Its circular IT services combine certified refurbished devices, asset recovery and lifecycle information, which organisations can use to assess alternatives to conventional device-refresh cycles.

For data centres, Lenovo points to xClarity monitoring and management for AI workloads, alongside Neptune liquid cooling, which supports the high-density computing used for those workloads. The announcement presents these as parts of an effort to address infrastructure needs and sustainability considerations together; it does not give a single performance figure for the combined offer.

Lenovo’s Carbon Impact Portal gives customers access to available device-level information, including carbon-footprint data, packaging details and energy ratings. Its xIQ Sustainability Platform brings available data together with AI-led advisory services and scenario modelling to support procurement and lifecycle choices.

For covered products, Lenovo says published product carbon footprints use lifecycle assessments aligned with ISO 14067 and are independently assured. The assessments account for stages including refurbishment, replacement parts, transport, electricity use and end-of-life treatment. Lenovo reported that, as of 9 July 2026, more than 100 such footprints were available, covering all LCR ThinkPad devices then on the market.

Regional emphasis and practical use

For Europe, Lenovo says ISG highlighted circular procurement, efficient compute infrastructure and carbon information for IT decisions. The company also describes third-party-assured lifecycle assessment data for specified new and refurbished ThinkPad models, and TruScale Device as a Service for Sustainability, which packages circular devices, recovery, reporting and consumption-based delivery.

For the US, the announcement emphasises connecting AI infrastructure efficiency, procurement data and circular device services. In both regions, the underlying idea is to bring cost and resource considerations into decisions about buying, operating, refreshing and recovering IT equipment.

That lifecycle framing matters because sustainability choices involve more than a device’s electricity use while in service: procurement, transport, replacement and end-of-life treatment also feature in Lenovo’s stated footprint assessments. The ISG recognition is an assessment of Lenovo’s IT solutions portfolio. The announcement does not report customer-level emissions reductions or cost savings, so the recognition should be distinguished from measured outcomes at particular organisations.
