Summary
Lenovo says it received the highest-possible AAA rating in Hang Seng Indexes Company’s 2026 sustainability assessment. It also achieved the highest combined environmental, social and governance scores in the technology industry.
Lenovo has received the highest-possible AAA rating in Hang Seng Indexes Company’s 2026 Sustainability Ratings, according to an announcement from the company dated 15 September 2026. Lenovo said it also achieved the highest overall score in its industry and the highest scores across the environmental, social and governance pillars among technology companies assessed.
The rating represents an improvement from Lenovo’s AA+ result in the previous year. About 600 companies were assessed in the 2026 evaluation, and Lenovo said this was its third year with the highest overall score in its industry, following similar results in 2022 and 2025.
What the Hang Seng assessment measures
The Sustainability Performance Assessment evaluates Hong Kong-listed constituents of the Hang Seng Composite Index and A-share constituents of the Hang Seng China A (Investable) Index. Since 2014, Hang Seng Indexes Company has appointed the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency to conduct the annual assessment using its proprietary sustainability-performance framework.
The three areas covered are environmental performance, social performance and governance. Lenovo said it led its industry in environmental performance every year since 2022. It achieved the top social score in 2023 and 2025, and the top governance score in 2022. The 2026 assessment was the first time Lenovo achieved the highest industry score across all three pillars in the same year.
The AAA rating should therefore be understood within this specific assessment framework and its eligible listed-company universe, rather than as a universal ranking of every technology company worldwide.
Lenovo’s sustainability targets and reporting
Lenovo said its sustainability strategy includes a commitment to reach net-zero greenhouse-gas emissions by 2050. Its emissions-reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, which assesses whether corporate climate targets are aligned with climate science.
In fiscal year 2025/26, Lenovo said it completed its first generation of long-term environmental, social and governance key performance indicators. The company’s latest ESG Report sets out newly approved 2030 ESG KPIs and aspirations for the next phase of its sustainability programme.
Lenovo also cited other recent external recognitions, including a Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, which it said placed the company within the top 1% of companies assessed globally. It additionally pointed to recognition from the Disability Index and Workplace Pride for workplace inclusion, and a No. 5 position in Gartner’s Global Supply Chain Top 25.
The Hang Seng result gives Lenovo a formal benchmark for its sustainability performance while its 2030 indicators and 2050 emissions goal provide longer-term targets against which future progress can be assessed.
