Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro have completed a three-title campaign in the GT World Challenge Europe after securing the Silver Cup, Sprint Cup and Overall championship titles at Zandvoort in the Netherlands. BMW reported the result after the penultimate Sprint Cup race weekend, with two race events still remaining in the season.
The Belgian-Argentine pairing drove Team WRT’s #30 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. They had already secured the Endurance Cup before arriving at Zandvoort. Their results at the Dutch circuit added the Sprint Cup and Overall titles, completing the title triple while competing in the Silver Cup.
A decisive weekend for the #30 BMW M4 GT3 EVO
Lismont and Montenegro won the first Silver Cup race at Zandvoort and finished second in the second race. That combination was enough to settle the relevant championships before the end of the calendar.
The result combines success across the championship’s endurance and sprint formats with the overall classification. It also gives Team WRT a major early-season result in its #30 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, rather than leaving the title outcome to the final events in Barcelona.
Montenegro described the achievement as his first season in the GT World Challenge and credited the team’s work, including the pit stop that helped produce the second-place finish in the second race. Lismont also praised Team WRT’s mechanics and engineers, as well as BMW M Motorsport’s race car.
The weekend was more difficult for WRT’s Pro Cup entries. Valentino Rossi and Max Hesse finished 12th on Saturday and fourth on Sunday in the #46 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Their fourth-place result was the team’s best Pro Cup finish at the event.
Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts retired on Saturday and finished 15th on Sunday in the #32 car. Jordan Pepper and Amaury Cordeel retired from both races after collisions that BMW described as being through no fault of their own. Van der Linde and Weerts consequently lost the lead in the Sprint Cup drivers’ championship, although Team WRT moved into the lead of the overall team standings.
Other BMW results at Zandvoort
BMW machinery also reached the Bronze Cup podium. Augusto Farfus and Darren Leung finished second in the Bronze Cup on Saturday in the #991 BMW M4 GT3 EVO entered by Paradine Competition. They finished fifth in the class on Sunday.
In the Gold Cup, David Pittard and Jop Rappange finished seventh and eighth in the #77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO from KPX Motorsport.
For Lismont and Montenegro, however, the central result was already settled: the Endurance Cup title won earlier in the season was joined by the Sprint Cup and Overall championships at Zandvoort. The remaining Barcelona races will complete the season’s schedule, but they cannot alter the three titles the #30 crew has already secured.
