Four paths for different roles

Later exercises address delegating larger tasks to agents, deciding what to delegate and where to add checkpoints and human review. OpenAI says employees remain responsible for the final result.
Build with AI is for developers and technical teams working with Codex or building products with the OpenAI API. Its developer material covers planning and implementing changes across the software development lifecycle, with attention to review and quality. API-focused courses cover solution design, evaluations, agents, retrieving relevant information and operating AI systems in production.
The Lead AI Adoption path includes an AI Leadership course for people responsible for strategy, adoption and change management. It covers assessing potential business value, connecting initiatives to organisational priorities, assigning ownership, setting governance and developing an initial adoption strategy and roadmap.
For education, AI for Educators covers using permitted materials to plan classes, create activities or assessments, and adapt communications. Exercises ask educators to compare ChatGPT’s responses with learning objectives, source materials and requirements. AI for College Students focuses on academic and career tasks, including organising study plans, coordinating group projects, reviewing drafts against assignment requirements and preparing for applications or interviews.
How organisations can use the courses
OpenAI presents the paths as options organisations can combine to suit their teams. For example, a company could use Apply AI at Work in onboarding, offer Build with AI to technical teams and include AI Leadership in an executive or transformation programme. Education institutions can combine AI Foundations with the educator and student courses.
The company also points to an OpenAI Academy Deployment Guide with recommendations for introducing courses, engaging managers and leaders, encouraging participation and tracking progress. It says the course material will be updated as its models, products and guidance change.
