Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold8 in India, with official pricing starting at ₹179,999 for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage model.

The Fold8 was announced in India on 22 July 2026 as part of Samsung's eighth-generation Galaxy Z series. Samsung began early deliveries to pre-booked customers in India on 4 August, ahead of the broader global sales rollout beginning 7 August.

India prices

Samsung India's launch material lists the following prices:

  • 12 GB / 256 GB: ₹179,999
  • 12 GB / 512 GB: ₹199,999
  • 16 GB / 1 TB: ₹239,999

Samsung separately advertised upgrade, bank/UPI cashback and no-cost EMI offers. Those are conditional launch promotions and are not the same as the device's listed retail price.

What changed in the Fold8

The Galaxy Z Fold8 uses a redesigned form factor intended to make the outer and inner screens better suited to different kinds of content.

The cover display uses a 10:16 aspect ratio, while the unfolded main display uses a 4:3 aspect ratio. Samsung says the main display measures 7.6 inches.

The company positions the wider inner display around video, gaming, reading and web browsing rather than treating the foldable simply as a larger conventional phone.

Weight and display engineering

At 201 g, Samsung says the Fold8 is its lightest Galaxy Z Fold so far.

The phone uses Samsung's new Flex Titanium display structure. According to Samsung, this combines a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate to support a thinner design while maintaining durability and helping reduce crease visibility.

Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits for the main display.

Those figures describe Samsung's own specifications and engineering claims. Long-term hinge durability, crease behaviour and display performance require independent testing over time.

Processor and battery

The Galaxy Z Fold8 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy platform.

Samsung specifies a 4,800 mAh battery and says the phone can provide more than 26 hours of video playback under its test conditions.

Manufacturer battery-life estimates should not be treated as an independent measure of real-world endurance because actual results depend on display brightness, network conditions, applications, camera use, gaming and other workload differences.

Cameras

Samsung describes the Fold8 as having dual 50 MP cameras covering wide and ultra-wide perspectives.

The software also includes features such as Dual Recording and My FanCam, which can automatically track and reframe a selected subject in recorded video.

These features establish what the device can do, but they do not by themselves establish comparative camera quality versus other phones.

AI features

The Fold8 is part of Samsung's latest Galaxy AI generation. Samsung highlights agentic features that can move between supported applications, along with Gemini-based tools and multitasking features designed around the larger display.

As with other AI features, availability can depend on account requirements, language, country, network connectivity and supported applications.

Availability

Samsung opened pre-orders in India on 22 July 2026 and announced early deliveries to pre-booked Indian customers on 4 August 2026.

Samsung's global launch announcement states that Galaxy Z Fold8 sales began on 7 August 2026 across 106 markets through carriers, retailers, Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores.

What still requires independent testing

Samsung's primary-source material establishes the Fold8's official pricing, specifications, launch timing and feature set.
