Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in India, starting at ₹199,999 for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage model.

The Fold8 Ultra is the first device to carry Samsung's Ultra branding within the Galaxy Z foldable family. It was announced in India on 22 July 2026, with early deliveries to pre-booked Indian customers beginning on 4 August before the wider global sales rollout from 7 August.

The first Ultra foldable in Samsung's Z series

Samsung uses the Ultra label for the highest tier of its Galaxy hardware, and the Fold8 Ultra extends that positioning to a foldable for the first time.

The phone opens to an 8-inch main display and measures 4.1 mm thick when unfolded. At 215 g, it is heavier than the standard Fold8 but still unusually light for a large-screen foldable.

Samsung says its Flex Titanium display structure and refinements to the hinge, magnets and display tension are intended to reduce crease visibility and improve the opening action.

Those are manufacturer engineering claims. Real-world crease development, hinge wear and long-term panel durability require independent testing.

Processor, battery and charging

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy platform.

Samsung specifies a 5,000 mAh battery and 45 W wired fast charging. The company also describes a new dual-path charging architecture intended to distribute power more efficiently across the battery system.

An expanded graphite cooling structure is used to improve heat dissipation during heavier workloads.

Camera hardware

The Fold8 Ultra has a 200 MP main camera, with HDR available in 200 MP mode, together with a new 50 MP ultra-wide camera.

Samsung also highlights improved low-light processing, 8K video recording using its APV codec, and Cine LUT tools intended for more advanced video workflows.

The presence of higher-resolution sensors and additional recording features does not by itself establish superior image quality. Comparative camera performance still requires controlled testing.

A larger workspace for multitasking

Samsung positions the 8-inch main display around productivity and content creation as much as media consumption.

The software includes Galaxy AI features designed to work across the foldable display, including multitasking assistance, Gemini-based tools and Now Nudge, which can suggest context-dependent next steps across supported applications.

Feature availability can vary by market, language, account status, connectivity and application support.

Availability

Samsung opened India pre-orders on 22 July 2026.

On 4 August 2026, Samsung India said early deliveries had begun for customers who had pre-booked the Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.

Samsung's broader launch announcement states that the new Galaxy Z series became available from 7 August 2026 across 106 markets through carriers, retailers, Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores.

What still requires independent testing

Samsung's own material establishes the Fold8 Ultra's official India pricing, core specifications, launch timing and feature set.

Those conclusions require independent testing rather than manufacturer launch claims.
