Samsung Health’s updated Sleep Coaching can start with three days of tracked sleep data and adjusts weekly guidance during a four-to-eight-week programme. The update also expands Running Coach to 12 training levels and adds Strava route imports.

Samsung Electronics announced an update to Samsung Health on October 14, 2026, that lowers the data requirement for starting Sleep Coaching and adds more tailored weekly guidance. The update also expands Running Coach from 10 to 12 training levels and lets users import routes from Strava.

Sleep Coaching starts with three days of data

Users can now begin Sleep Coaching with three days of sleep data tracked within a seven-to-14-day period. Samsung’s previous requirement was seven days of data within a month. During setup, users also answer questions about sleep regularity, interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and how satisfied they feel with their sleep.

The app uses those responses and the sleep data to assign a personalised Sleep Animal symbol and build a coaching programme lasting four to eight weeks. Its recommendations adapt weekly as sleep patterns change; the programme also tracks daily sleep satisfaction and lifestyle shifts. Guidance includes habit checklists and tips, such as avoiding screens for an hour before bed or skipping late caffeine.

Samsung says the update adds a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph that brings together five indicators: sleep time, sleep regularity, awake time during the night, sleep satisfaction and Energy Score. Morning insights and weekly and final reports connect daily habits with trends over the programme. The graph is intended to help users see patterns and areas that may warrant attention; it is a wellness feature rather than a medical assessment.

Running Coach adds training levels and route imports

Running Coach now offers 12 training levels, up from 10, including new tiers for intermediate and advanced runners. Training plans continue to be based on a 12-minute running test or the user’s historical running data.

The update also adds share-ready templates for exporting workout data, including milestones, personal records and route highlights. Through a Strava partnership, users can import routes for running, trail running and cycling into Samsung Health.

Rollout and device requirements

Samsung says the features will roll out progressively through Samsung Health app updates starting in October. Sleep Coaching requires Samsung Health version 6.24 or later, a Galaxy smartphone running Android 11 or later, and a supported Galaxy Watch 4 series or later, Galaxy Fit3 or later, or Galaxy Ring. The minimum sleep-data requirement applies within a seven-to-14-day period.

Running Coach requires Samsung Health version 6.30.2 or later, an Android phone running Android 10 or later, a Samsung account and a Galaxy Watch8 series or a later Galaxy Watch model. Samsung says availability and timing may vary by market, model and other conditions. Energy Score is for personal reference and is not intended for medical purposes.
