Samsung Electronics says FläktGroup, a Samsung company, has completed and begun operating an approximately 13,826-square-metre manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. The plant will produce air-management and cooling equipment for AI data centres and other critical infrastructure, with FläktGroup planning to expand production progressively to as many as 6,500 HVAC units per year.

The announcement was made on August 13, 2026, after an opening ceremony at the facility on August 12 attended by Samsung and FläktGroup executives, customer representatives and more than 100 people.

What the Pune facility will make

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. In a data-centre context, these systems help remove heat generated by computing equipment while controlling conditions such as temperature, humidity and air quality.

The Pune plant will manufacture three categories of equipment:

  • Air Handling Units (AHUs): systems that use chilled water to cool indoor environments and help maintain air quality.
  • Fan Wall Units: systems that use multiple high-capacity fans to remove heat from server environments.
  • Computer Air Handlers: equipment for precision management of temperature, humidity and air quality around mission-critical IT equipment. The Samsung release refers to these systems as CRAHs.

These are different types of air-management and cooling equipment used in large buildings and data-centre environments. Their functions are related, but the announcement does not provide equipment-level specifications such as cooling capacity, airflow, efficiency, operating-temperature range or compatibility with particular liquid-cooling systems.

Samsung says the facility includes its production line, offices and auxiliary facilities. The company also says the operation moved from equipment installation to mass production in six months.

Why cooling is important for AI data centres

AI data centres can require substantial cooling infrastructure because high-density computing equipment converts much of its electrical power into heat. Cooling systems remove that heat and help control air conditions around the equipment, including temperature, humidity and air quality.

The Pune announcement, however, is about manufacturing capacity rather than a demonstrated performance improvement at a particular data centre. Samsung has not supplied independent test results, customer deployment data or measurements showing how the equipment performs in operational AI facilities.

Production plans and regional role

FläktGroup plans to increase production at the Pune facility progressively to up to 6,500 HVAC units annually. The announcement does not say when that level will be reached, whether the figure covers one product category or the combined output of all HVAC units, or how many units the plant has produced since opening.

Samsung says the facility will supply customers in India and export markets across the Asia-Pacific region. The Pune operation builds on FläktGroup manufacturing plants in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Samsung and FläktGroup say that the two locations will strengthen local manufacturing and improve responsiveness to customers.

The Pune site is described as the first new FläktGroup manufacturing facility to become operational since Samsung Electronics completed its acquisition of FläktGroup in November 2025. Samsung says its broader strategy is to combine FläktGroup’s HVAC and critical-cooling expertise with Samsung’s AI and technology capabilities, global reach and scale.

Those statements describe the companies’ intended strategy. The announcement does not identify specific customers, contracts, export volumes or the expected split between Indian and Asia-Pacific demand.
