Divergent adenovirus linked to disease in New Zealand pig herd

A bioRxiv preprint reports a previously uncharacterised porcine adenovirus in a New Zealand high-health pig herd affected by neonatal deaths and reproductive problems. Genome sequencing placed the virus in the Mastadenovirus genus but on a distinct lineage from characterised porcine adenoviruses.

EMA committee issues positive opinions for two veterinary vaccines

The EMA’s Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products adopted positive opinions for Cirbloc, a vaccine for pigs, and AviGate S. Typhimurium, a vaccine for chickens. The committee also advanced guidance on antimicrobial use, pharmacovigilance and user safety.
