Large genetic study finds no link between rare TMEM106B variants and Parkinson's disease risk

A study of 62,560 individuals across diverse ancestries found no evidence that rare variants in TMEM106B are associated with Parkinson's disease risk. The findings suggest the gene's rare variation does not play a major role in PD susceptibility, despite evidence that TMEM106B expression is altered in the brains of people with the disease.
