Summary

Honda presented a full model change of its Africa Twin adventure-bike range at EICMA 2026, with three variants and a 1,131cc engine. The Adventure Sports DCT can be equipped with Honda’s new radar-based SENSING RIDE system.

Honda presented the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin range at EICMA in Milan on November 3, 2026. The full model change adds a third variant, the Enduro Sports, and increases engine displacement from the previous generation’s 1,100cc class to 1,131cc. Honda says the redesign combines higher engine performance with weight reduction and a lower centre of gravity. The Adventure Sports DCT will be the first Honda motorcycle offered with the company’s new SENSING RIDE rider-assistance system.

Three variants for touring and off-road use

The range comprises the standard CRF1150L Africa Twin, the touring-focused Africa Twin Adventure Sports and the new Africa Twin Enduro Sports. The Adventure Sports has a 24-litre fuel tank and a 19-inch front wheel. Honda says it is intended for long-distance comfort and convenience. The Enduro Sports is designed for more demanding off-road riding, with front suspension based on specifications equivalent to those of the CRF450 RALLY and model-specific styling.

The standard Africa Twin and Adventure Sports receive electrically controlled SHOWA EERA suspension with Honda Skyhook control. The system monitors motorcycle behaviour and adjusts damping continuously, which Honda says helps the bike settle more quickly. All three variants have six selectable riding modes that integrate settings such as engine output, traction control and ABS.

Engine, chassis and radar-based assistance

The liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine produces a maximum 87.5kW at 7,500rpm and 119Nm of torque at 5,700rpm. Honda attributes the intended gains in acceleration and cruising to the larger displacement, revised compression ratio and bore diameter, intake and exhaust optimisation, and altered gear ratios.

Honda says the redesigned frame and swingarm are 1.4kg lighter than those of the previous generation. A fuel sub-tank beneath the seat lowers the centre of gravity, which the company says improves low-speed manoeuvrability and control.

SENSING RIDE is an option only for the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT. Millimetre-wave radar units at the front and rear detect nearby traffic; the system can provide alerts and operational assistance. Listed functions include adaptive cruise control, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, group-ride and following-distance assistance, forward-collision warning, emergency-brake assistance, blind-spot information, rear-distance information and rear-collision warning. With the DCT transmission, Honda says the motorcycle can stop and start smoothly while adaptive cruise control is active.

Honda also says the range uses chemically recycled acrylic for emblems and taillights, and chemically recycled nylon for some covers and rear-fender components—both described as firsts on a Honda motorcycle. Other components use plant-derived DURABIO, post-consumer recycled polypropylene and pre-consumer recycled material. These choices form part of Honda’s stated effort to increase sustainable-material use.
