Samsung Medison has launched the HERA Z10, a premium ultrasound system designed for obstetrics and gynecology, completing a two-model HERA Z lineup alongside the HERA Z20.
The system was showcased at the 34th International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology World Congress in London from 4 to 7 September 2026.
Samsung's announcement emphasises AI-assisted workflow tools intended to reduce repetitive measurement work and support maternal and fetal imaging. Those performance figures come from Samsung and associated clinical research and should be interpreted in that context rather than as independent proof of superiority over competing systems.

What the HERA Z10 is
The HERA Z10 is a diagnostic ultrasound platform aimed at women's health, particularly obstetric and gynecologic imaging.
Ultrasound creates images by transmitting high-frequency sound waves into the body and measuring the echoes returning from tissue boundaries and moving blood.
Modern systems combine beamforming hardware, transducers, signal processing and software. In obstetrics, the clinician also performs many structured measurements, such as fetal anatomy views and biometric measurements, which can be time-consuming and operator-dependent.
Samsung says the HERA Z10 inherits several AI-based workflow functions from its flagship HERA Z20 while using updated beamforming technology intended to improve image clarity.
How AI is used in the workflow
The system's AI features are primarily assistive rather than autonomous.
They are designed to identify structures, automate measurements, standardise certain views and reduce manual manipulation. The clinician remains responsible for acquiring appropriate images, interpreting findings and making diagnostic decisions.
That distinction matters because “AI ultrasound” can otherwise imply that the system independently diagnoses a pregnancy or gynecologic condition. Samsung's description is closer to workflow automation and decision support.
What Live ViewAssist does
Live ViewAssist is designed to help during detailed mid-trimester fetal examinations.
Samsung says joint clinical research with investigators at Sapienza University of Rome found that the feature reduced scan time by up to 52% during mid-trimester detailed ultrasound examinations.
That is a vendor-reported figure tied to a specific workflow and study context. It should not be assumed to apply equally to every operator, patient or clinical setting.
Another feature, EzStructure, is intended to reduce manual manipulation for key measurement parameters. Samsung reports a reduction of up to 71% in manual manipulation in its cited evaluation.
Other imaging tools
The HERA Z10 includes MV-Flow 3D, which is designed to visualise small-vessel blood flow at high resolution.
Samsung highlights possible use in evaluating abnormal placental or uterine vascular patterns, including high-risk pregnancy scenarios such as placenta accreta.
FibroidVue uses AI to segment and measure the uterus, endometrium and uterine fibroids. Automated segmentation can make serial measurements more reproducible, although final interpretation still depends on clinical context and image quality.
Samsung also describes dedicated neonatal probes as part of the wider HERA Z platform.
Why workflow automation matters
Ultrasound is highly operator-dependent. Image quality and completeness depend on probe positioning, anatomy, patient factors and the experience of the person performing the scan.
Automation cannot remove those variables, but it can reduce repetitive tasks and standardise portions of an examination.
If a system reliably identifies the correct view and populates measurements, the clinician can spend more time checking anatomy and less time performing repeated manual caliper placement.
The potential benefit is therefore not simply speed. Standardisation may also improve consistency between scans and operators.
What is not yet clear
Samsung's global newsroom announcement does not provide pricing or India-specific availability for the HERA Z10.
It also does not establish that the system improves patient outcomes compared with other premium ultrasound systems. Scan-time reductions and automated measurements are workflow endpoints, not direct evidence of better maternal or fetal outcomes.
Those questions require independent comparative studies and real-world clinical use.
